Unlike the Mughal emperor, Sharad Kulkarni, 60, did not create a monument to himself, but he did scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. After his wife died, he decided to climb the highest mountain in the world.

To put it mildly, it is remarkable that he is the only Indian climber to have conquered Mount Everest at this age.

The Kulkarni couple left their birthplace of Beed, Maharashtra and moved to Thane. Sharad Dinkar Kulkarni and his wife Anjali, both mountaineers, had decided to climb the seven highest peaks in the world.

It was necessary to climb the formidable Mount Everest as the first step to realize this concept that he and his wife had envisioned. Despite having embarked on this journey together, a tragic accident prevented them from realizing their dream.

Anjali and Sharad set out on their Everest trek in 2019. On May 22, something extraordinary happened while we were climbing Mount Everest. Due to the presence of several climbers, there was a traffic jam right there, near Hillary Pass.

There is only one cable car at this location. Only one rope is used for lifting, and only this rope is used for pulling. Because there was a very small window of time and all the mountaineers wanted to descend as fast as possible, there was a great race. Because there was not enough oxygen present at this time, Anjali perished.

Sharad decided to fulfill his wife Anjali’s request after she passed away. At the age of 60, he began to work hard to prepare for his adventure on Mount Everest. Since then, he has ascended the peaks of four other mountains. He finally decided to go back to Everest. Four years after the death of his wife, on May 23, 2023, he achieved his common goal.

Everest ascent. Sharad became the first and only Indian to climb Mount Everest at the age of 60 when he succeeded. It should be noted that Sharad had already successfully climbed Everest before the year 2019 began.

Sharad said, in a News18 report: “There was no end to my delight when I set foot on the top of Mount Everest on May 23 at 10:23am. I realized the dream Anjali and I had shared. My crying would not cease. They were tears of happiness. Being able to stand on top of Mount Everest is a rare and lucky experience. I appreciate everyone’s help in giving me this opportunity. Even this year, many of your fellow climbers had to perish in the Everest adventure”.
