A Pennsylvania school district is celebrating the birth of 17 sets of twins in its kindergarten class, popularly known as “twin kindergarten.”

Where will these twins join school?
Most couples will attend Ridge Park Primary School with seven, followed by Whitemarsh Primary School with six sets of siblings and Plymouth Primary School with four. The Colonial School District has never had a class with more twins than this one.
The Colonial School District in Montgomery County reported that seven sets of twins are starting kindergarten at Ridge Park Elementary, six at Whitemarsh Elementary and four at Plymouth Elementary.

“While the first day of kindergarten can sometimes be anxiety-provoking for young children, having a built-in buddy on the first day of school is one of the benefits for these twin children entering kindergarten,” the district explained.

“Many of the children reported that having someone who is always around is one of the things they like most about being twins.”
Ridge Park kindergarten teacher Peggy Smith said this year’s “twin kindergarten” class is unprecedented.
“I’ve been a kindergarten teacher for 20 years,” Smith told WPVI-TV. “Normally, there are only one pair of sets of twins, if at all.”
