A Delta flight forced to make an emergency landing due to a passenger’s diarrhea: “This is a biological risk”

It was a horrible situation.

A Delta flight from Atlanta to Barcelona was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing after a passenger “had diarrhea throughout the plane.”

The Airbus A350 plane had been on a two-hour transatlantic flight from Georgia to Spain on Friday when the pilot asked to turn back due to the fecal fiasco.

“This is a biohazard issue,” the pilot told air traffic control recorded from LiveATC.com and shared on X.

“We had a passenger who had diarrhea the entire plane, so they want us to go back to Atlanta.”

The passenger’s identity remains a mystery, but passengers and crew were transferred and flight DL194 finally arrived in Barcelona at 5:10 p.m. the next day, eight hours later than scheduled, according to Flightradar24.

It is unknown if the passenger who had the diarrhea problem was on board the plane when it landed in Spain.

An alleged flight strip from the Federal Aviation Authority was posted on Reddit, which seemed to confirm that the situation involved a “biological hazard” throughout the plane.

The news of the unfortunate mishap of the sick passenger and the flight delay went viral on social media.

Cleaning crews were able to clean the plane once it landed in Atlanta, as flight logs show it was used for another flight.

Delta officials confirmed there was a “medical issue” on the plane and it had to be rerouted to Atlanta to be cleaned, according to Insider.

The company, however, did not provide further details on the medical reason.

“Our crews worked as quickly and safely as possible to thoroughly clean the aircraft and get our customers to their final destination,” a Delta spokesperson said. “We sincerely apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience in their travel plans.”

Delta passengers had a rough week in the air: Another flight en route to Milan, Italy, had to be rerouted to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on August 29 when it hit severe turbulence, injuring 11 passengers.
