Alleged Ukrainian plot to kill 77 Russian pilots with poisoned cake and whiskey foiled

An audacious plot allegedly hatched by Ukrainian intelligence agents to annihilate dozens of Russian pilots with poisoned cake and whiskey was foiled at the last minute, according to a report.

The incident took place on Saturday at the Armavir Higher Military Aviation School in Russia’s Krasnodar region.

The elite flight school located in the city of Armavir organized a banquet in honor of its alumni who graduated from the institution 20 years ago.

The party was attended by 77 guests, including active-duty pilots who held high ranks in the Russian air force, Russian telegram channel Fighterbomber reported.

In the midst of the festivities, a delivery driver appeared carrying an enormous cake weighing more than 44 pounds and several cases of Jameson Irish Whiskey, all courtesy of unknown “grateful admirers” of the flight school, according to the report.

While the gigantic two-tier cake was being cut, the very impressed alumni were busy taking selfies and posting words of gratitude in their private chat groups.

At the same time, everyone at the party began trying to find out who had sent the offerings.

An academy official in charge of security took a screenshot of the deliveryman from the CCTV video, who was later identified as Egor Semenov, 32, originally from the occupied Ukrainian city of Melitopol.

During interrogation, Semenov allegedly admitted to bringing the cake and bottles of alcohol with a powerful poison.

Semenov has lived in Russia since 2017. He has a young son and makes a living installing intercoms, according to local reports.

The 32-year-old has so far been jailed for 15 days on a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct.

Armavir authorities are said to have been searching for the local bakers who created the deadly dessert, which was decorated with the flight school’s emblem.

The Telegram channel that first reported the incident, run by a retired fighter pilot, blamed the botched poisoning on Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, known as GUR.

Among the guests at the party were high-ranking pilots of the Russian air force. Dmitri Aksenov

“By pure chance and thanks to the conscientiousness of the agents who left the anonymous cake and the drink aside, no one had time to foolishly eat the cake or taste the drink,” the channel said.‌ “It would have been a catastrophe. 77 guests.”

“But they are all alive. GUR totally failed. And that’s good,” the author rejoices.
