Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 13 soon, and one feature that has been mentioned in all the reports is the reintroduction of Touch ID. Apple is expected to use a combination of Face ID and Touch ID, according to reports.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could drop Touch ID in favor of Face ID with the iPhone 13.
Apple is said to have tested Touch ID for the iPhone 13, but the company opted not to release it this year. Instead, the Cupertino-based tech giant will use Face ID, which will be integrated into the screen.
Future iPhones are expected to use on-screen Face ID, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. An in-display front-facing camera could be included in future iPhones.
However, many people believe that Touch ID will rejoin in-display fingerprint scanning for low-cost iPhones, while high-end iPhones will keep Face ID in-display.
Meanwhile, a different scenario suggests that Touch ID may be phased out entirely, with high-end iPhones getting in-display facial recognition and lower-end models getting Face ID in the notch.
According to rumors, there will be four iPhone models: the iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max. Versions of iPhone 13 will include improved cameras, larger batteries, an A15 Bionic CPU, iOS 15, large rear camera bezels, a small notch, and more.
In September, Apple is likely to launch the iPhone 13 series.
