Bear cub goes crazy in Alaska grocery store: video

A black bear cub in search of bear necessities wandered into an Alaska grocery store last week, scaring shoppers quite a bit.

Two wildlife officers and the Petersburg Police Department were called to the IGA Trade Union on Mitkof Island to corral the animal on Tuesday, according to Alaska’s News Source.

Wild footage showed officials cornering the puppy by running behind a stack of shopping carts in the produce section before carrying him to a police vehicle with a steel humane pole.

Alaska State Trooper Public Information Officer Justin Freeman was then tasked with being the bearer of bad news about the “abandoned” animal to reporters.

“In coordination with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, we euthanized the bear for a variety of factors,” Freeman said.
