The incident shook passengers while they were aboard a Volaris flight on October 6. Passengers were seen upset by the mosquito attack as they protected themselves from the bites by waving their hands frantically, a futile attempt to ward off the blood-sucking insects.

The domestic flight was scheduled to travel from Guadalajara to Mexico City, according to TaleThe passengers settled in and boarded the flight scheduled to depart at 4:30 pm from the Guadalajara International Airport. However, the swarm of mosquitoes delayed the departure time until 7:00 p.m.

The insects came aboard uninvited and left passengers irritated and perplexed. The cabin crew of the flight were seen fighting against the infiltration. A video that is now going viral on the Internet shows how two crew members walked down the aisle between the seats of the flight and used primitive tools to fight mosquitoes.
Cabin crew sprayed mosquito repellent throughout the flight while passengers could be heard cheering on attendees for taking the initiative and fighting off the blood-sucking skeeters.

So far it is not clear why a swarm of mosquitoes infiltrated the Mexican flight. However, local media indicated that this was not the first time that such a case had baffled passengers on a Mexican domestic flight.
In 2019, a similar mosquito infestation occurred on a Volaris flight. According to local media, the location of the airport is to blame. Reports indicated that the area where the airport is located provides an ideal environment for “the proliferation of mosquitoes because it is located near flood-prone areas and abundant vegetation, as well as some nearby bodies of water that are contaminated. It also has to do with climatic conditions.”
