A teenager in China sold a property he got from his family for 1 million yuan (about $139,000) at half its value to buy a motorcycle, according to a report in the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
However, the teenager’s family took legal action, and the sale was canceled. This incident was reported from Henan province in central China.
The case became popular after it was pushed in family court.
The court examined the papers for the deal between the teenager nicknamed Xiaohua and two property dealers. The court decided that the agreement was not fair.
Because his parents wouldn’t buy him a motorcycle, the teenager chose to sell his grandfather’s inherited property.
Without telling his parents, he asked property agents for help.
The 18-year-old agreed to sell it for $72,000. According to SCMP, the property agent sold it to another agent for a higher price, making a profit.
When Xiaohua’s mother found out, she asked the property agents to undo the deal. But they said no, so his parents went to court.
Xiaohua’s actions surprised the court, but his mother argued that the trade wasn’t fair.
Next, the judge looked at the sale paperwork and listened to what the teenager and agents had said. The judge decided that the teenager didn’t know how much the property was worth and that the agent had tricked him into selling it for much less.
“Xiaowu (the name of the property dealer) took advantage of Xiaohua,” the judge said, per the SCMP report.
The court canceled the agreement and gave the property back to Xiaohua.
