Explanation of the case of the murder trial of Sindiso Magaqa
Four men were reportedly brought before the Pietermaritzburg High Court judge on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, and pleaded not guilty to all charges against them. Do you know who the four defendants are? The incident reportedly occurred in the Umzimkhulu area at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital located in Durban. In September 2017, Sindiso Magaqa was shot dead. Two colleagues of ANC Youth League secretary Sindiso Magaqa were also reportedly shot but survived their gunshot wounds. The two companions of Sindiso Magaqa who were shot along with him are Jabu Msiya and Nontsikelelo Mafa. What are the charges against the four defendants? The four men, Mbulelo Mpofana, Sbonelo Myeza, Sibusiso Ncengwa and Mlungisi Ncalane, are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and malicious damage to property. They were granted bail last year in February at the Ixopo Magistrate Court on a R5,000 bail. But in March last year, Ncengwa was found guilty of plotting to rob money in transit and sentenced to 95 years in prison by the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
