Florida Rep. Cory Mills flies to Israel to rescue 32 Americans trapped in fighting

Florida Rep. Cory Mills, an Iraq War veteran, helped rescue 32 Americans trapped in Israel after Israel was attacked by Hamas terrorists over the weekend, the lawmaker said.

The Republican told Fox News on Wednesday that he flew to the Jewish nation to help American citizens return home.

Mills, who served in the 82nd Airborne Division while deployed to Iraq, said he could not share more details about the rescue mission or its location due to concerns and operational limitations, the outlet reported.

He told the station that some of the Americans he led to safety had become trapped in areas of the country that now lack a “permissible environment” for a complete escape.

The lawmaker decided to go to Israel himself after noticing that the Biden administration had not announced any plans on the ground to bring American citizens home.

He did the same for people trapped in Afghanistan in 2021 after President Biden decided to withdraw from the country.

“I came in and felt very grateful to be able to help (by the way, for the second time, I’ll just add) the Biden administration, which hasn’t done its job,” Mills told Fox News.

“[The] The first time I did it was in 2021, when I carried out the first successful rescue of Americans,” he said. “But here it is, the second time doing the Biden administration’s job because they didn’t have a plan.”

He also criticized Biden for not making himself more available to journalists during the intense battle between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

“I think it is time for the American people to put an end to the disastrous administration that continues to fail in its plan and strategy to be able to get Americans out or to take into account foreign policy. [situation] that they actually believe and that actually leads to these types of incidents,” Mills said.

Biden said Americans were likely among those kidnapped by Hamas militants and that 14 U.S. citizens were among the dead.
