What is Telangana doing with Traffic Challans?
On Tuesday, the Telangana government released a notification allowing residents to clear pending challans at a fraction of their original cost.
The government has instituted a program that gives people 60 to 90 percent reductions in their traffic challan requests.
“The state of Telangana, Hyderabad, has declared that the pendency of e-Challan is huge in the last few years and many vehicle owners have not paid e-Challans due to Covid-19 pandemic,” the decision read.
Numerous traffic challenges were issued at the same time using contact and non-contact law enforcement methods.
It is a challenge to eliminate the enormous amount of pendency.
The government would offer 80% discount on two- and three-wheeler cars as part of the programme.
On the other hand, buses operated by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will receive a 90% discount.
In challans issued for heavy motor vehicles, such as trucks, and light motor vehicles, such as passenger cars, the reduction will be sixty per cent.
The Congress Party, which recently took control of the state, made promises in its election manifesto and the reductions in traffic fines are delivering on those promises.
Vehicle owners should compare the pending challans with their cars and submit the discounted payment online by visiting the Telangana e-traffic website, as per the instructions.
When will the discount be available?
The program will run from Tuesday, December 26 to January 10, 2024.
