There was a time when the ‘Girlboss’ trend took over the internet. Women across social media platforms motivated their peers to work hard in a misogynistic “man’s world.” Whether it was breaking that glass ceiling at work or being an accomplished housewife, the trend was for every woman in the world.
However, it seems that not all women are now looking to hustle and climb the corporate ladder. Now, the rising trend is gaining popularity over the girlboss trend. The new trend that interests women is the Snail Girl Era.

What is the trend of the snail girl era?
While the Girlboss persona focused on women’s overwork and busy mindset, the Snail Girl era represents a shift to encourage women to prioritize their health, happiness, and self-care above all else.
The term was introduced by Sienna Ludbey, designer and founder of Hello Sisi, in an article for Fashion Journal. In her September hot take, the creator of handmade bags and accessories declared that her inner Girlboss is now a thing of the past.
Ludbey explained: “A snail girl takes her time and creates. The speed at which everything is published in the world is getting faster, but she doesn’t care. She is running her own race, and maybe that race is going nowhere but home and back to bed.”
Why are women leaving ‘girlbossing’ behind?
Young people are opting for a slower lifestyle rather than enduring toxic work environments and long work hours, experts say.
Lately, TikTok has seen a rise in videos that embrace the snail girl aesthetic, featuring women with easy-going morning routines and comfortable lifestyles. There are influencers advocating for “lazy girl jobs,” encouraging women to prioritize their happiness and enjoyment of life rather than sacrificing their desires for demanding schedules.
