The movie Rust, directed by Joel Souza, had Halyna Hutchins as the cinematographer. The movie starred Alec Baldwin, Travis Fimmel, Brady Noon, Frances Fisher, and Jensen Ackles. On October 21 in 2021, in Bonanza City, New Mexico, at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot while Joel Souza was injured while being on the set of the production of the movie. The shot was discharged by Alec Baldwin, who used the gun as a prop. It is known that the gun was given to him by assistant director Dave Halls. It is being reported that there was a mix-up during the production.
