Hamas booby traps included bomb placed in boy’s backpack: Israel

Booby traps set by Hamas terrorists in Israel included a bomb disguised in a child’s pink backpack in hopes of killing an innocent victim, the Israeli military said on Sunday.

Disturbing images posted online by Israel Defense Forces It showed a soldier unpacking a child’s seemingly harmless, colorful school backpack adorned with hearts and stars, found lying in a field.

Inside were explosives that would explode if anyone tried to pick it up.

“The bag was booby trapped and contained a remotely activated explosive device weighing 7 kg,” the IDF wrote.

“Hamas deliberately decided to booby trap a child’s backpack in the hope that a well-intentioned civilian would pick it up.”

The IDF said the insidious device was just one of many located in Israel that Hamas left behind in hopes of killing more Israelis after terrorists murdered more than 1,400 people on October 7.

A child’s backpack left by Hamas was filled with explosives, the IDF said. IDF Hamas terrorists set the device to explode if an unsuspecting victim picked up the backpack.

It has also been discovered that some of these traps were placed on the bodies of the dead, including 33-year-old Canadian-Israeli mother Adi Vital-Kaploun.

Last week, the IDF discovered that the body of Vital-Kaploun, who was shot in front of her two children, was booby-trapped that would explode if anyone tried to move it, her friends told Canada’s Globe and Mail.

“They found the body under the first-born’s bed, with bombs,” said his friend Dina Zaslacski.

Experts fear that Hamas’s use of entrapment could extend to its hostages, who include at least 30 children. Hamas online Children’s toys are covered in ash after Hamas burned a house in Israel before retreating to Gaza.

“They put bombs all over his body and his father was in the house. Thank God he didn’t open the door,” she said through tears.

Hamas’s use of booby traps has also stoked fears that its more than 200 hostages may be loaded with explosives that will explode in encounters with Israel’s imminent invasion force in Gaza.

Bruce Hoffman, an expert at the US Council on Foreign Relations, issued that warning in mid-October when discussing the possible location of hostages scattered throughout Gaza’s extensive network of underground tunnels.

“These locations and perhaps even the hostages themselves are likely to be full of traps,” Hoffman warned in a sobering briefing on Monday. “This is a challenge of a magnitude that has never been faced before.”
