This morning, as word got out that popular local boy Pauric Brady had passed away on Wednesday night at the age of just 18 after a brief bout with cancer, the small town of Baltinglass was rocked with grief. Pauric Brady, son of Avril and Martin Brady, and older brother of Ronan, was deeply embedded in the Baltinglass community. He left a lasting impression on the staff and students at Scoil Chonglais and Baltinglass Town AFC, where he had been a coach, player and dear friend.

Pauric Brady’s cause of death explored
When the Bradys found out that Pauric, who turned 18 last November, had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, their world was turned upside down in December of the previous year. Pauric was “overwhelmed” by the amount of support the campaign has received and expressed “overwhelming gratitude” to everyone for his kindness. He will be sadly appreciated and lost in the hearts of everyone at the club. As a testament to Pauric’s character and popularity, a fundraising campaign to help him in his battle was launched in February, with friends, family and supporters from across Wicklow and beyond generously donating almost €30,000 towards his treatment in a matter of days. The memories of him will last in our hearts for ever and ever. Martin, Avril and Ronan have our deepest condolences and compassion. His extensive and family acquaintances are also included. Peace be with him. We pledge our steadfast support and sincere solidarity with his family as they struggle through his grief.
