Kamala Harris Has ‘Rabbit Ears’ For Criticism, Is Too Sensitive, Says Colleague: New Book

Vice President Kamala Harris has “rabbit ears” for criticism, according to a new book that suggests she has paper-thin skin and is extraordinarily sensitive to any disapproval.

In “The Last Politician,” to be published Tuesday, author Franklin Foer writes that Harris, 58, is so sensitive that her White House colleagues have begun comparing her to a scared rabbit.

‘”Harris possessed what one of his colleagues described as ‘rabbit ears,’” Foer writes in his explosive book.

“Whenever there was a hint of criticism of her, whether in the West Wing or in the press, she seemed instantly aware of it,” he writes in an excerpt that was first reported on Fox News.

“Rather than brushing it off, she wanted to know who was talking badly about her and what they were saying,” Foer writes, noting that when Harris “read a devastating story” on a news website “about her team’s mismanagement,” she vice president “responded by briefly excluding an aide whom she suspected of cooperating with journalists.”

“He let himself be guided by the criticism,” added Foer, a writer for The Atlantic magazine.

“Instead of sticking diligently to the Central America task, he seemed to accept the conventional wisdom on the matter. It was useless work, so she put it aside, missing the opportunity to work her way to a meaningful achievement.”

A staggering 49 percent of registered voters view Harris negatively, and only 32 percent view her positively, according to a June NBC News poll.

Meanwhile, Biden appeared not to trust Harris with important issues, according to the book.

President Biden “tried [Harris] with impeccable respect, [but] it just didn’t give him the substantial role he played in the Obama administration.”

Biden “helped plug holes in Obama’s resume,” but the president “didn’t need Harris the same way Obama needed Biden,” according to Foer.

“Ron Klain took on the role of guiding Harris,” Foer writes, referring to Biden’s former chief of staff.

“He considered himself the building’s resident expert on the vice presidency, having worked for both Al Gore and Joe Biden while they sat in the second chair.”

“But he fought to help her productively. He felt that Harris continued to make life excessively difficult for himself by imposing all kinds of limitations on himself,” Foer said.

“She told him she didn’t want to work on women’s issues or anything to do with race,” he writes.

“He wanted his position to be majority female and to have a black woman as chief of staff.”

Foer adds that, “in Klain’s ear, she was creating too many rules and they were making it difficult for her to find her footing.”
