In the video, the villagers can be heard criticizing the local contractor, whom they call Rana Thakur. They call the work “fake” while grabbing the rug under the asphalt.

According to the Free Press Journal, the incident occurred at Karjat-Hast Pokhari, a taluka in the Jalna district of Maharashtra. The road was built as part of the ‘Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana’ (Prime Minister’s Rural Roads Scheme). According to the outlet, the contractor claimed to have used German technology to build the highway.
However, as seen in the video, the promise was broken when people discovered the temporary remedy. The locals also rebuked the Maharashtra government. According to the Free Press Journal, they want to punish the engineer who approved the substandard construction.
