Boat accident at Marina Resort Calabar
This boat accident reportedly happened on Saturday afternoon around 3:00 pm when the boat capsized. Medical students came from universities across the country to attend NiMSA’s annual Health Week in Calabar and went to the Marina Resort for a boat cruise. Two out of three missing students are said to be from Amodu Bello University located in Zaria, while the third missing student is from Uyo University located in Akwa Ibom state. The report claimed that Calabar College of Medicine is hosting this year’s health week, so students from Nigerian medical colleges came to Calabar just to celebrate their annual health week, so, to carry out their social activities, the plan was for them to attend. to Marina, and visit the slave trade and all that but few of the students decided to go on a boat cruise and it happened that when they were coming back to move to Tinapa for their normal social activities, the boat capsized.
The cruise ship is believed to have capsized due to a high wave in the Calabar Channel which caused all 14 passengers, including thirteen medical students and the ship’s driver, to drown in the water. Fortunately, Nigerian Naval Patrol teams were close to the scene and rescued a total of 11 victims, but three are still missing.
