A New Jersey inmate claims she was sexually assaulted by a transgender inmate whose “aggressive” actions were not stopped by staff at a notorious women’s penitentiary.
An unidentified inmate has sued the New Jersey Department of Corrections after claiming she was sexually assaulted at the now-closed Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton.
He has accused the state DOC and prison guards of failing to take “corrective action” over the “sexually aggressive and harassing behaviors of transgender people” who have a “fully functioning male anatomy,” according to the lawsuit, filed Aug. 29. in Hunterdon County Superior Court. read.

The unidentified woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by a transgender inmate in September and October 2022. She said she reported the problems to Edna Mahan employees but was instead charged with disciplinary retaliation, My Central Jersey reported.

Additionally, the inmate, who has been incarcerated since 2003, said transgender inmates are housed with other people in areas where there are no security cameras, according to attorney James Wronko, who filed the lawsuit.
The alleged attacker has since been moved to a men’s facility, according to the lawsuit.
The New York Post has reached out to the New Jersey DOC and Wronko for comment.
In a separate lawsuit, another inmate at the same facility sued the Department of Justice after she was allegedly forced to perform a sex act on a guard.

The lawsuit alleged that an officer forced a woman to go to the bathroom, turned off her body camera, unbuttoned her pants and forced her to perform a sex act in August 2021, according to My Central Jersey.
The guard allegedly threatened her by telling her that he didn’t “want to leave without teeth” and that he could make her stay in prison “really good.”
In June 2021, Governor Phil Murphy ordered the prison closed after many physical and sexual abuse scandals emerged.
