A super PAC supporting Republican House candidate Mazi Pilip is taking aim at Democratic rival Tom Suozzi with a new TV ad that will run during Sunday’s Super Bowl, two days before the special election on September 13. February to replace the expelled former representative. Jorge Santos.

Suozzi previously served three terms in Congress, including during Biden’s first two years in office.

Suozzi’s history of raising property taxes when he was Nassau County executive is well documented and has come up in previous campaigns.
In 2016, the Poynter Institute’s PolitiFact rated as accurate Republican claims that Suozzi raised taxes by more than $200 million while county executive.
Meanwhile, a bipartisan county committee had proposed raises for Suozzi and local lawmakers in 2007.
Suozzi’s camp dismissed the announcement.

“For two months, Mazi Pilip has offered nothing of substance and has only shown that she is committed to grandstanding to extremist GOP bosses when it comes to the border crisis and tax cuts,” said Kim Devlin, senior adviser to Suozzi campaign.
“Meanwhile, Tom Suozzi was just one of 18 Democrats who voted to fund ICE. Another ad produced by House Democrats seeks to link Pilip to Santos, pointing to lawsuits involving her family business and back tax issues, calling her an “ethical nightmare.”
