Sameer Rizvi was born on December 6, 2003 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. During school, he joined a nearby cricket academy. He first played in a professional match on 27 January 2020 for the Uttar Pradesh team in the 2019-2020 Ranji Trophy tournament. That season he only played 2 games. After that, Sameer played 11 List A matches and scored 205 runs.
In 2023, Sameer became captain of the Kanpur Superstars team in the UP T20 cricket league. He achieved the highest individual score of 122 runs in 58 balls for his team. Later in December 2023, Sameer made headlines when the Chennai Super Kings team bought him for Rs 8.40 crore in the player auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League tournament.
