A Seattle woman who now owns 5,631 rubber ducks said she initially had only seven toys in her collection before deciding to stop. Charlotte had previously collected koalas, shells, stamps and bottle caps, but nothing had really taken hold until rubber ducks came along.
Charlotte thought that having a collection of rubber ducks would be fun and whimsical and would provide a great counterpoint to her rigorous research and teaching tasks.
After collecting 13 rubber ducks, Charlotte realized she had started to build a real collection and thought she should continue.
