The young German-Israeli tattoo artist who paraded through the streets of Gaza after being kidnapped by Hamas was found dead after “sadistic” terrorists “cut off her head,” Israel’s president revealed on Monday.
“I am very sorry to report that we have received the news that Shani Nicole Louk has been confirmed murdered and dead,” President Isaac Herzog told German newspaper Bild.
“His skull was found,” he said, and the 23-year-old victim’s family also confirmed that the death was confirmed by DNA on parts of his skull.
“This means that these barbaric and sadistic animals simply cut off his head while attacking, torturing and killing Israelis.
“It is a great tragedy and I extend my deepest condolences to his family,” the president said, according to a translation by i24 News.
“What we saw on the border between Gaza and Israel goes far beyond a pogrom. We saw a slaughterhouse,” she said.

“We saw the blood running through the streets. “We have seen the most horrible tragedies imaginable,” Herzog concluded.
Louk, 23, became a symbol of the horrors of Hamas when terrorists snatched her from the festival near Kibbutz Re’im when more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, were killed on October 7.
The tattoo artist’s mother, Ricarda Louk, also confirmed that she had been informed of her daughter’s death, she told the German news agency dpa on Monday.
Shani Louk was last seen dancing at the rave before the terrorists approached.
Despite receiving earlier news that her daughter had survived the initial attack, her mother now believes she was actually killed that same day, possibly with a gunshot to the head.
“At least he didn’t suffer,” Ricarda Louk told German broadcaster RTL/ntv.
He said his daughter’s body has not yet been found, but a splinter of a skull bone was located and DNA testing confirmed her death.

Louk’s sister Adi also posted a broken heart emoji as she shared with “great sadness” the news that her sister was killed at the “blood festival in Re’im.”
More than 260 people died at the site of the Nova Tribe dance rave at the Negev desert music festival, according to the Israeli Zaka rescue service.
As terrorists flooded the festival, Louk called his mother to tell her he was trying to get to his car to leave. Hours later, Shani’s family found disturbing images of her apparently lifeless body lying in the back of a van surrounded by armed men.

The gunmen chanted “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for “God is great”) as they carried Shani’s body and eventually took her to the Gaza Strip, the video shows.
Louk, a tattoo artist, had lived in Israel but spent part of her childhood in Portland, Oregon, where she attended kindergarten at the Portland Jewish Academy.
