According to authorities, Siya was denied a German Schengen visa the first time she applied for it because she did not provide all the required documentation, according to SchengenVisaInfo.com.
Siya was rejected because she needed to present a paper signed by her legal guardian along with the rest of the documentation. She was unable to submit said document on time because she does not have any of her parents and she lives with close relatives.
According to the Times of India, once the prime minister’s office intervened, Siya was able to obtain her visa and travel to Berlin to compete in the World Games.
He acquired the visa 24 hours before the start of the World Games, which implies that his team had already left when he received the document.

This is not the first time that Indian athletes have run into Schengen visa issues while traveling to the bloc for various tournaments. However, as the authorities explain, visas are often delayed because the processing time cannot be shortened due to the high volume of applications.
Because India has not negotiated a visa-free travel agreement with the EU, all athletes, as well as others, must obtain a visa to enter the Schengen Area. Indian athletes traveling to the EU to compete in sports are required to apply for a Schengen visa for cultural, sporting, religious events and film crews.

This type of visa allows short-term visits in the Schengen Area, and all applicants must provide a completed application form, two recent photographs, a valid passport, and a copy of their passport data page.
Applicants must additionally include a personal introduction letter, a flight reservation, proof of having purchased travel medical insurance, proof of accommodation, proof of financial means and proof of marital status when applying for this form of visa.
