Smita started her career as a theater artist and did numerous works in Marathi like Cottage No. 54, Sadhya Tari Shevat God, Shriman Yogi, London Chi Soon India Honeymoon, Baaoacha Baap, etc. She debuted in the Marathi film Naatigothi in 2006 and it was released. in the National Award-winning drama film Jogwa – The Awakening (2009). Her first feature film was 72 Miles – Ek Pravas, directed by Rajiv Patil and produced by Bollywood actress and author Twinkle Khanna.
She also owns the production company Ringing Rain which produced Saavat in 2019. Apart from that, Smita has also appeared in several films like It’s Breaking News (2007), Deool (2011), Tukaram (2012), Candle March (2013), Mahaguru (2014), Singham Returns (2014), Laathi (2014), Noor (2017), Double Game (2018), Panga (2020), Sacred Games season 2 (2020) and Bittersweet (2020). She has also played Marathi television serials like Anubandh (2009) and Ladachi Mi Lek Ga (2020).
