The unidentified woman revealed her situation on the Anonymous 2 Community Facebook site, claiming that she has given virtually all of her monthly earnings of NT$24,000 (US$770) to her mother since graduation, leaving only NT$4,500 for basic monthly living expenditures.

She claimed her mother persuaded her to trust her with her money, telling her, “If you let me manage your money now, you will thank me in the future.”

According to the woman, despite her mother’s assurances that she could ask for additional money if she needed it, this was not the case when she did ask on one occasion.

“I remember wanting to perm my hair once and asking my mother to withdraw NT$3,000 for me, but I was chastised for wasting money,” she explained.
Even if she was hungry and didn’t have money for food, she was hesitant to approach her mother for extra money for fear of an angry reaction.

When children begin earning money, it is extremely typical for them to give it to their parents. As a result, the woman put her trust in her mother and was guaranteed that if she needed money, she could always ask her mother for it.

However, she recalled a previous occasion in which she wanted to perm her hair, but her mother refused to give her the money and instead reprimanded her.

The woman estimated that her mother’s funds were worth NT$2.66 million

After 12 years, the woman estimated that her mother’s funds were worth NT$2.66 million. However, when she was preparing to marry and got her mother’s bankbook, she was shocked to discover that she had “wiped out” her funds, leaving only NT$50,000 in her account. Despite the startling finding, she did not confront her mother about the stolen money.

Even after learning the facts, she did not ask her mother about the financial mismanagement. She expressed her disappointment with her mother’s behaviour and stated that parents frequently feel that their children earn money for them.

The woman stated that she now handles her money on her own because she has mortgages, loans, and children, and she does not inform her mother of her income.
