The woman was shocked when she returned to her apartment after being away for several months and discovered her house had been invaded by what she described as “mutant potatoes.”
The horrible story comes from the crazy pandemic era, when people had to stay inside and some had to vacate their apartments to spend a peaceful quarantine with family.
Donna Poree, who lives in Caen, had bought a bag of potatoes for €2.50 (Rs 220) at a Super U supermarket before the country went into lockdown. However, when lockdown measures were implemented across France, she quickly left to quarantine with her boyfriend on the opposite side of town.

Naturally, when you rush out of your apartment, you make sure you have your phone, wallet and keys, while the sack of potatoes on the kitchen shelf is the least of your worries.
However, Donna probably didn’t expect the lockdown to last this long. When she finally returned to her apartment after months, the 22-year-old was shocked to discover that the formally innocent-looking potatoes had sprouted enormous alien-like plant tentacles that had spread throughout her living space. .
She related: “When I opened the front door, I noticed a strange shape at the back of the kitchen. As the light was off and the shutters closed, I didn’t realize it was the potatoes. It was only after opening the shutters that I took note of this extraordinary vision.”
She exclaimed: “At first I was terrified, but after realizing what it was, I laughed a lot and shared a video of the plant on Snapchat.” Donna added: “My friends couldn’t stop laughing. They thought the whole situation was unbelievable.”
