A TikTok personality captured the horrifying moments when an Alaska Airlines flight was forced to turn around mid-flight after a section of the plane exploded.
“A part of the plane went flying not even 20 minutes into our flight?” TikTokker Strawberry.vy, who has more than 11,000 followers on the app, captioned the clip of passengers putting on their oxygen masks shortly after taking off from Portland.
In the following clip, the TikTokker zoomed in on what appeared to be a gaping hole in the side of the plane with a clear view of a nighttime city below.
“I flew back for an emergency landing,” he wrote over another clip from the darkened cabin.
The author and her friends then ran to catch another flight, resulting in a second video.
“How is everyone so calm?” one commenter asked.
“We had to… we weren’t too far from our departure either,” Strawberr.vy responded.
The Ontario, California-bound plane carrying 177 passengers left Portland International Airport at 4:52 p.m. on Friday, but returned less than 40 minutes later when it “experienced an incident,” the airline previously said.

Passengers’ belongings were reportedly sucked into the hole in the plane, while a small child had to be restrained in his seat by his mother.
Photos obtained by KTPV showed a hole in the plane’s fuselage.
Although no one was hurt, commenters on Strawberr.vy posts didn’t waste time imagining nightmare scenarios.
