Top places where weather will cause flight problems for travelers during the Christmas holidays

A storm system expected to bring blizzard conditions to the Plains and heavy rain to the south could cause a host of flight delays and cause slick roads over the Christmas holiday.

Roads and airways have been quite busy this holiday season, as more than 115 million people were expected to travel 50 miles or more from home, according to AAA.

Here’s the forecast to see if the weather may also affect your trip on Christmas Day and the trip home.

Monday (Christmas Day)

Airport delays will not ease for many on Christmas Day, as the same storm system that caused delays on Christmas Eve will continue its march east.

Airports that may experience some delays include Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Kansas City International Airport (MCI), Atlanta-Hartsfield International Airport (ATL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). Rain in the Pacific Northwest could slow things down a bit at Seattle’s Sea-Tac Airport (SEA).

Meanwhile, rain spreading eastward may cause some minor problems in popular centers like Washington (DCA/IAD).
