Melissa Paredes, a renowned actress known for her roles in projects like “Dos Hermanas” (2020), “Ojitos Hechiceros” (2018), and “Is He My Girlfriend?” (2019), made a second television appearance to address the scandal surrounding her relationship and to discuss her divorce from Rodrigo Cuba. Appearing as a guest on the show “En Boca de Todos,” Melissa Paredes engaged in a series of questions and answers, delving into her current relationship with Anthony Aranda and the contentious divorce proceedings with Rodrigo Cuba. The initial disagreement between Melissa Paredes and Rodrigo Cuba in October 2021 revolved around her relationship with Anthony Aranda, intended to ensure her protection.
However, as time passed and their separation became final, the legal dispute took a different turn. It now focuses on the custody of their youngest child, who is currently under investigation for potential impacts on their sexual integrity. With multiple complaints filed and the involvement of former ministers and the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, the situation of their child has gained significant attention. The media exposure of the minor has raised concerns, leading to potential changes in legal custody for Melissa and Rodrigo. Various factors have exacerbated Melissa’s legal situation, including challenges with the modification of the child’s custody arrangement, a request for the child to undergo a Gesell camera examination by the Public Ministry, as well as allegations of extortion and damage related to sexual indemnification.
On June 13, a significant turn of events unfolded when Rodrigo Cuba reported Melissa Paredes to the police for extortion and blackmail. The situation arose from accusations made by Melissa, alleging that Rodrigo had influenced their 4-year-old daughter’s perception of sexual indemnity. Rodrigo, also known as ‘Gato,’ claimed that Melissa pressured him to comply with her demands. In response, Melissa argued that her accusations stemmed from a confession made by their daughter, which she captured on video and intended to use as primary evidence to support her claims.
To provide clarity on the matter, attorney Karla Viso was invited by Magaly Medina to discuss the complex situation on her program. The attorney explained the concept of sexual indemnity, describing it as a situation where a minor child has the capacity and understanding to differentiate between right and wrong, much like a child who has learned not to touch a socket due to the understanding of danger. Similar understanding applies to matters of sexual indemnity, where a child must have reached a certain level of cognitive development to comprehend the significance of consent.
In response to Melissa Paredes’ serious allegations and the Ministry of Women’s (MIMP) involvement, the Public Ministry initiated an investigation into Rodrigo Cuba for the suspected crime of rape. Former ministers Rosario Sasieta and Ana Jara weighed in on the situation, expressing concern that the minor’s privacy had been violated and stressing the need for expedited investigations into the individuals involved. Ana Jara also expressed regret that Melissa had not pursued a criminal complaint in the appropriate manner. She emphasized the importance of following proper procedures when a parent or guardian becomes aware of a crime against a child, including filing a criminal complaint and ensuring that the child undergoes expert examination, such as the Gesell camera examination, to assess any potential physical or emotional harm suffered.
