The representative of Honduras, Zuheilyn Clemente, dazzled during her presentation at the Miss Universe 2023 national costume night and left Hondurans delighted with her choice of costume.
This striking dress is a tribute to the Lenca culture, its name is “Artesana Lenca, Catracho pride” and it was made by designer Danilo García.
As he said through his social networks, the idea of this beautiful costume is to pay tribute to the “colorful legacy that has been passed down from generation to generation”, referring to the Lenca looms.
Likewise, it seeks to highlight the ancient traditions in the hands of Lenca women, “guardians of a part of the culture and history, representing in the best way the Honduran working spirit.”
This representation was made with Lenca fabric made in the community of “El Cacao” in Intibucá.
The suit also contained some decorations from the vessels and ornaments of pre-Columbian tradition.
