Bilal was challenged to recognize Taylor Swift’s top 50 best-selling singles based on her words, which were randomly included in a list. With no accompanying music, a human read the first lines of each song aloud, testing Bilal’s knowledge and passion for Swift’s music.

Bilal expressed his deep appreciation for Taylor Swift, telling GWR: “I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift since I was a kid. I’m a huge fan of hers. I’ve listened to every single one of her songs. I can relate to pretty much any of her songs based on in his letters.”

Why did he set such a world record?

His enthusiasm for Swift’s music inspired him to attempt this Guinness World Record, believing it was the “best way in the world” to express his incredible feelings for the musician.

Despite being familiar with Swift’s entire catalog, Bilal spent 13 weeks meticulously preparing for the record attempt. His practice included prolonged listening sessions, and the songs became so embedded in his memory that he claimed he could recite lyrics aloud even while he slept.

While Bilal found the work reasonably simple due to his extensive preparation, he recognized an additional element of difficulty in having the lyrics read by a man rather than Taylor Swift herself.

How have you broken a similar record before?

However, his hard work paid off as he broke the previous record of 27 songs set by Dan Simpson (UK) in 2019.

This is not the first time that Bilal demonstrates his ability to identify melodies. In 2021 he set the Guinness World Record for recognizing the most animal sounds in one minute, with 23.

Last year, he broke another record by identifying the most Justin Bieber songs from their lyrics in one minute (29), surpassing the previous record by seven. Bilal expressed his excitement and said, “Being called ‘Certified Swiftie’ or ‘Officially Awesome Swiftie’ is an amazing feeling.”

His love for Taylor Swift remains unwavering and he considers Folklore his favorite album, calling it an “absolute masterpiece.”

He shared a post on his LinkedIn and wrote: “Alhumdulillah!”
