A tourist from Singapore died Friday while taking photos with her husband on the edge of a cliff in a New York state park, authorities said.
Nur Aisyah Binte MD Akbar, 39, sank 70 feet after slipping off a cliff while on a hiking trip with her husband in the Hudson Valley region, state police said.
The woman and her husband stopped to take photos at the edge of a cliff on Beacon Hill Trail in Minnewaska State Park when she “lost her balance” and fell over the side Friday afternoon, according to police.

Her husband, Abdul Rauf Bin Mohd Said, also from Singapore, called 911, prompting several agencies to converge on the scene in the Rochester park.
The New York State Police aviation unit lifted the victim from where he landed and took him to Ellenville Regional Hospital in Ulster County, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is under investigation.
