The note is the second of its kind, following the issuance of a celebratory note in 1997 to commemorate Pakistan’s golden jubilee. In April 2023, it was reported that the 75 rupee note has faced a rough patch in gaining wide acceptance as legal tender. The 75 rupee note predominantly features a green color, accompanied by shades of white and yellow. The color green symbolizes growth and development, reflecting Pakistan’s Islamic identity. The presence of white highlights the religious diversity within the country’s population.

The obverse of the note features portraits of important figures, including Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Syed Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Iqbal, and Fatima Jinnah. On the other hand, the reverse of the banknote shows images of the Markhor and Deodar trees. These images symbolize Pakistan’s commitment to address the challenges posed by climate change and its consequences. SBP’s chief financial officer, Qader Bakhsh, said the 75-rupee note is the third commemorative note SBP has issued in its three-quarter-century history. The two previous banknotes were issued to commemorate the 50 and 75 years of the founding of the country.

The material of the coin was also believed to be made from recyclable cotton-based paper rather than the regular paper or polymer-based printing material often used in other economies. The banknote was issued in 2022 to commemorate 75 years of the country’s independence and carried the images of Quaid-i-Azam, Fatima Jinnah and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
