Bui Thi Loi, from Loc Ninh commune in the Vietnamese province of Quang Binh, appears to be in good shape for his age, further adding to the mystery of his diet. The woman claims that she has lived for half a century on water and soft drinks and never seeks out solid food.

When did it all start?

According to Oddity Central, it all started in 1963 when she was struck by lightning while walking up a mountain with other women to heal wounded soldiers during the war.

She was knocked unconscious and, although she survived, she was never the same again. She didn’t eat anything for several days after she regained consciousness, so her friends started giving her sweetened water.

Why did you stop eating solid foods?

Bui Thi Loi continued eating solid foods, mainly fruits, after a few years. She had never felt the need for such cuisine and only ate at the insistence of his family. She stopped eating solid food in 1970 and survived only on water and soft drinks.

How is she now?

The woman now claims that the smell of the food makes her sick. Even though she always cooked for her children when they were growing up, they never tried her food. The kitchen is collecting dust as her children grow up and go out.

She was unable to breastfeed her children due to her unusual diet and had to rely on other people for milk. Sugary soft drinks, according to doctors at the Nutrition Department of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, help to quickly replenish the body’s energy in times of need and promote the functioning of the body’s digestive system.
