A 55-year-old man who was once the target of his ex-wife’s murder-for-hire plot was arrested in Las Vegas with $100,000 after his current wife, 26, was found dead in their home.

A Pennsylvania man, once the target of a murder-for-hire plot, was arrested at a Las Vegas casino on Tuesday after his 26-year-old wife was found dead in their home, and authorities believe he was set up to escape from US.

Arthur Eugene Guty Jr., 55, faces charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault in connection with the death of his wife Franyerlys Nicold “Nicole” Zambrano Briceño, who died from a “gunshot wound to a vital part of the body,” according to WTAE.

Zambrano’s co-workers at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort reported her missing on Dec. 24 in Farmington, Pennsylvania, when the housekeeper didn’t show up for work for several days, the outlet added.

Uniontown police were unable to contact her during a welfare check at her home last Friday and opened an investigation into Zambrano’s disappearance.

“Throughout the investigation, we received more tips and we followed up on all of them,” said Uniontown Police Lt. Thomas Kolencik. “With the help of some forensic evidence and some technology, we were able to obtain a search warrant for the home (Monday), where we found our deceased victim.”

Zambrano was found in a bedroom of the home she shared with Guty on Monday and police recovered a .357 Magnum revolver in a separate room.

It is suspected that Guty attempted to flee the country, since when he was arrested he was found with approximately $100,000 in cash. art.guty.16 / Facebook A photograph taken by Las Vegas police captured Guty sitting outside, handcuffed and with a cigarette dangling from his mouth following his arrest at the casino. Guty was named the first and only suspect in the case, as investigators distrusted him after his conversation with the man and issued an arrest warrant on Monday.

“He could not explain his wife’s whereabouts and when he gave us information, it was not accurate,” Kolencik added.

Guty had left the Pennsylvania town days before his wife was reported missing and told neighbors that he and Zambrano were on a cross-country road trip.

“Three days before Christmas he disappeared and I don’t know where he went or what he was doing,” Bob Luick told WTAE, and the neighbor recalled a phone call he had with the alleged killer.

“I said, ‘Art, where are you?’ but we still didn’t hear from Nicole and he said, “I’m in Kansas and we’re going to the Grand Canyon.” He said, ‘Let’s go up to the Grand Canyon,’” Luick recalled.

Police captured Guty while he was eating breakfast at the Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino on Tuesday.

Guty was carrying approximately $100,000 in cash when he was arrested and officials believe he was preparing to leave the United States.

“It is an obvious homicide. And he clearly he was not willing to come talk to us,” Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele told KDKA-TV. “We believe that he was on his way out of the country, with a significant amount of cash and was going to try to avoid any responsibility for what happened here. So, I would say there is absolutely a level of insensitivity here.”

Roxanne Guty was arrested in 2019 after offering the hitman a portion of a $50,000 life insurance policy to kill her husband, with whom she co-owned a Marathon gas station, WTAE reported at the time.

She was sentenced to lesser charges and is being held in the Fayette County Jail, according to the outlet.

Guty is scheduled to appear before a fugitive judge Thursday morning, according to court records.
