A man allegedly tried to have an affair with his own daughter before starting a rage-filled shootout.

A Florida man spiraled into a murderous rage after trying to form a romantic relationship with his 17-year-old daughter, shooting a woman to death and wounding her mother and the teenager, authorities said.

Michael Banks, 42, shot and killed his mother’s friend, wounded his mother and injured his daughter in a rage at the family’s Tampa home on Wednesday, police said.

Banks, outraged that his family tried to stop his own daughter’s romantic pursuit, opened fire on officers responding to reports of shots fired.

Police returned fire but did not hit Banks, who surrendered and was taken into custody, Fox 13 reported.

A pretrial detention motion filed by prosecutors accused Banks of resorting to violence after overhearing his mother and her friend discuss kicking him out of the family home after learning he was “pursuing a romantic relationship with her daughter.”

Prosecutors said the father, clouded by anger and betrayal, grabbed his loaded revolver and shot the unidentified woman to death in the kitchen.

The woman was a friend of his mother, according to Fox.

Banks then pointed it at his mother, causing a bullet to graze her head, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, Banks chased his 17-year-old daughter, who was in the shower at the time, shooting through the bathroom door and hitting the teen in the leg.

Police saw her mother and daughter running out of the house and screaming for help.

When authorities later questioned Banks, he confirmed that he had written a love letter to his daughter, asking her to “enter into a relationship with him and not date anyone else,” prosecutors said.

Banks has a criminal record that includes a conviction on aggravated assault charges for beating a pregnant woman in 2007.
