Aditya Rawal is an Indian writer and actor. He is the son of well-known Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal. He is best known for playing the role of Sarju in the television series Aar Ya Paar. He has worked as an assistant director in the film OMG- Oh My God!. He is the screenwriter of the historical play The Queen, which appeared on Broadway in the United States. Aditya is also the writer of the Chinese short film Mailbox, which made it to the semi-final of the NBCU Short Film Festival.

Birth and early life

Aditya Rawal was born on September 28, 1993 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, in a Hindu Brahmin family. His father, Paresh Rawal, is a well-known actor, comedian and Congressman affiliated with the BJP, while his mother, Swaroop Sampat, was Miss India 1979 and also a Bollywood actress.

From the second grade, Aditya was actively involved in sports and was the school goalkeeper. In 2009, he joined Mumbai-based football club Kenkre Football Club. He was captain of the Mumbai University’s Kenkre football club.

Aditya studied from Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and enrolled in Human Resources College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. He undertook a 6-month course in Devised Theater at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA), England and then graduated from the Master’s Program in Dramatic Writing at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, New York .

Career

Aditya wrote the historical play The Queen, which was produced at the Theater for the New City in New York. He also wrote the Chinese short film The Mailbox, which was a semi-finalist at the NBCU Short Film Festival. He later wrote scripts for several Indian and American directors. His short films have been screened at various festivals around the world.

Aditya co-authored two of her illustrated books on children’s rights. He was a producer and director of a documentary called Drama-in-Education. He was also the assistant director of the Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar starrer film OMG-Oh My God!.

In 2012, Aditya made his debut in the Bollywood film Ferrari Ki Sawari, starring alongside Sherman Joshi and Boman Irani. He played the role of a Gujarati boy in Vikram Kapadia’s Bombay Talkies. In 2019, Aditya was cast opposite actress Shalini Pandey in the lead role in Anurag Kashyap’s film Bamfaad.
