Amit Shah may introduce three crime bills
The Center will introduce new crime bills during the winter session of Parliament in response to several suggestions by a parliamentary panel. On Tuesday, the three revised laws will be presented to Parliament. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam Bills aim to replace the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, 1898, in that order. The Center this week approved the submission of proposals to amend the penal code to replace pre-colonial laws. On two issues concerning adultery and homosexuality, the Parliamentary Standing Committee and the Cabinet were said to be at odds.

Three British-era statutes will be repealed and replaced by the new measures, which were presented to Parliament on August 11 during the Monsoon Session. The group met representatives of the Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs, subject matter experts and other stakeholders on many occasions, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
