Apple to launch an AI-powered health advisory service next year

Listen to the Podcast:

Apple is already ahead of the competition when it comes to digital health advice services, thanks to services like Fitness+ and products like the Watch.

Apple is also jumping on the AI bandwagon, but in a different way than other big brands. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently said that Apple is creating an AI-powered health advisory service.

Quartz is the secret name of the service, and it is said to encourage people to exercise and stay healthy. The AI-based health advice service is said to be built into the Apple Watch from the start. The price of the health coach service is said to be a regular subscription, just like the Fitness+ service. At the moment, it is not clear if this service uses computing power on the device or on cloud computers to obtain results based on AI.

Gurman says that Apple has put a lot of smart people from the Siri and AI teams to work on this project to speed up development. Based on what we know now, the service could start in 2024. But if there are problems, the start date could be pushed back a year or two.

Additionally, the company is said to be working on other fitness-related tools to track the user’s emotions and mood. At WWDC 2023, Apple may also show off a new health app for iPad. The new app is said to make it easier to view different health-related information on a big screen, and is expected to come out with iPadOS 17.
