Asher attended a coeducational private school, Newark Academy. She studied film, film, video studies, and English at Columbia University in New York City. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the ACT Conservatory from 2011 to 2014.

Career
Asher made his acting debut in the crime drama television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Rick Olin. His work on other television series includes Elementary, House of Cards, Chicago Med and Succession. Asher landed the breakthrough role of Trevor, a Wall Street stockbroker in the television series Ghosts in 2021.
