George Alagiah, an award-winning journalist, has died at the age of 67, according to his agent. He leaves behind his wife Frances Robathan and his two children. George Alagiah, former presenter of BBC News at Six, is married to Frances Robathan. She was born in London in 1960. Frances worked with the Fairtrade Foundation for 18 years, starting in 2002, as a senior association advisor. She was also Head of Institutional Fundraising and Head of Program Partnerships for the Foundation. After meeting at Durham University, where they both studied, George and Frances married in 1984. “When I look back and look at my journey…the family I had, the opportunities my family had, the great luck of meeting with [Frances Robathan], who has now been my wife and lover for all these years, the children we raised…it didn’t feel like a failure,” he said on the Desperately Seeking Wisdom podcast in 2022.
