WASHINGTON – President Biden on Friday mocked the unprecedented mugshot of former President Donald Trump, released Thursday night after he was booked into an Atlanta jail.
“I saw him on TV,” a smiling Biden told reporters after leaving a Pilates class in South Lake Tahoe, California, adding: “Handsome guy, wonderful guy.”
The 80-year-old president is vacationing at billionaire Tom Steyer’s lakefront mansion and also commented on the first-ever Republican primary debate on Wednesday night.
“I don’t remember that they talked about any of the issues. I mean there was a lot of talk, but what are they going to do to deal with economic growth?” said Biden, whose own handling of the economy was heavily criticized in the debate.
Trump, who is seeking a rematch against Biden in next year’s election, became the first US president subjected to a mugshot when he turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail to face charges related to his efforts to overturn a narrow victory for Biden. Biden in 2020 in Georgia.

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a former personal attorney for Trump, and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows also posed for mugshots, along with 16 other co-defendants.
The case is being brought by Democratic District Attorney-elect Fani Willis, who alleges the group formed an illegal conspiracy to overturn the results of the Georgia election.

It was Trump’s fourth arrest this year, but the first that required a mugshot.
Trump also faces two federal cases brought by special counsel Jack Smith, one related to his attempts to reverse his election defeat and the other over his alleged mishandling of classified records after leaving office, and a case brought by the district attorney of Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, in 2016.
