Biden Praises ‘Congressional Black Caucus’ During Address to Congressional Hispanic Caucus in President’s Latest Mistake

Another day, another slip.

President Biden on Thursday expressed his admiration for the “Congressional Black Caucus” during a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in his latest moment of bewilderment.

The gaffe occurred while he was giving a speech in Washington at the 46th Annual Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Gala.

Biden, 80, held a gala for Sister Norma Pimental, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, just before the mistake.

“I know that Sister Norma lives the lessons that the nuns taught me when I was a child. Lessons based on the Gospel of Matthew: feed the hungry, care for the sick, welcome strangers,” the president said. “They echo what my dad taught me, and I mean this sincerely, my dad used to say, ‘Everyone, everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.’”

“The Congressional Black Caucus embodies all of those values,” he added, without stopping to correct himself.

Biden’s latest verbal gaffe comes a week after he was criticized for inferring that Black and Hispanic workers don’t have “high school diplomas.”

“We’ve seen historic lows in unemployment in particular – and I’ve focused on this my entire career – particularly for African American and Hispanic workers and veterans, you know, workers without high school diplomas,” he said during an event in Prince George’s Community College in Maryland last week.

Biden on Thursday boasted about the number of Hispanic members in his Cabinet and took credit for “record low” Latino unemployment and other economic gains in the Hispanic community under his leadership.

He also accused Republicans of “gutting the immigration system” under former President Donald Trump and continuing to “undermine our border security today, blocking bipartisan reform.”

Biden looked up and down the stage after concluding his remarks and raised his palms as he appeared to ask someone off-camera for directions on how to exit the stage.

Nearly two-thirds of Hispanic voters (60%) disapprove of Biden’s job performance as president, according to a June Pew Research survey.
