Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s home is “smashed” on Christmas Day by a caller claiming a man shot his wife inside, just weeks after celebrating the “Colored Chosen Christmas Party” “.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was crushed on Christmas Day, two weeks after hosting a controversial Christmas party for non-white city council members.

The Boston Police Department was called to a shooting that turned into a hostage situation at Wu’s home in the city’s Roslindale neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, according to WBUR.

The call was made through the city’s 311 reporting system, alleging that a man had shot his wife inside the home and tied her up, along with a second man.

But once police and EMS crews arrived, they realized it was the mayor’s house and received a fake emergency call.

Wu, 38, says she was surprised to open the door and see all the flashing lights, but it didn’t interrupt her family’s evening.

“For better or worse, my family is kind of used to it now and we have a good system with the department,” he told the radio station.

It’s unclear if Wu’s two young children, who she shares with husband Conor Pewarski, were home at the time of the call.

Wu has come under fire after it was revealed that she was hosting a “Chosen of Color Christmas Party” earlier this month.

A City Council staff member accidentally sent the party invitation to all city council members instead of just non-white members.

The Boston City Council is made up of six minority members and seven white members.

“I sent that to everyone by accident, and I apologize if my email may have caused offense or seemed that way,” wrote Denise DosSantos, the City Council’s director of relations in a follow-up message fifteen minutes after the errant email. “Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.”

Wu defended the party hours before elected officials met, saying it had become an annual tradition for the “diverse” group to celebrate the holidays together and for each person to take turns hosting.

“I have been part of a group that meets and represents elected officials of color at all different levels of government in Massachusetts,” Wu said at the time, according to WCVB. “A group that has been around for over a decade and the opportunity to create a space for people to celebrate and rotate who is the host.”

The mayor later posted a photo from the party showing the “diverse” group posing gathered around the table.

Wu stated that Monday’s incident was not the first time he has been the subject of such calls since he took office in November 2021.

He went on to criticize the frequency of such calls, saying they took first responders away from actual incidents.

“When true emergencies occur and resources are being deployed in this way, it is concerning,” Wu told the station.

Police are still investigating whether Monday’s call was related to any other calls at Wu’s home.

Wu wasn’t the only politician to have uninvited guests show up at her door on Christmas, as far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was also the subject of a strong-arm call to her home.

“They just crushed me. This is like the eighth time,” Greene posted on X on Monday. “At Christmas with my family here. My local police are the GREATEST and I shouldn’t have to deal with this.

The Georgia congresswoman shared that she was attacked, this time because a man called the Rome Police Department’s suicide hotline claiming he had shot his wife and was threatening to kill himself.

Fortunately for everyone involved, dispatchers contacted Greene’s security team and confirmed that there was no incident at the home and called off the response while authorities were still en route.
