Box of cremated human remains from 2012 found on an Arizona trail

Authorities in Arizona are searching for possible next of kin after a box of cremated human remains dated more than a decade ago was found on a hiking trail.

The “creams” were discovered by a hiker on the afternoon of January 24, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The box was dated Nov. 22, 2012, and apparently contained the remains of “Ann Kringle,” who died on Nov. 12 of that year, the faded label showed.

The box has been taken into custody and attempts are being made to contact the funeral home listed on the label to gather additional information, such as next of kin.

“The box has been taken into custody and attempts are being made to contact the funeral home listed on the label to gather any additional information, such as next of kin,” the sheriff’s office statement said.

Anyone with possible information about the remains is urged to contact authorities.

The label on the box indicates that the remains were cremated by the Evans-Brown & Hemet Valley Crematorium in Murrieta, California.

The company did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment.
