Who Is Bruce Lehrmann?

The former Liberal staffer Bruce Lehrmann always maintained his innocence. He told The Australian newspaper, “I will be guided by the report and call for its release as a matter of urgency. If it finds the director acted with malice or against his duties as DPP and as an officer of the court, I will be considering a multimillion claim for damages and compensation from the ODPP and the ACT government”

Brittany Higgins accused Mr. Lehrmann of raping her in a ministerial office. She also secured compensation worth more than $2 million from the Commonwealth after arguing that during her employment the Morrison Government mistreated her. Now, the former Liberal staffer is suing Channel 10 and ABC for defamation. In addition. Mr. Lehrmann also called for the report to be issued with immediate effects in the wake of revelations that the ACT Government quash the conclusion while it considers the future of Shane Drumgold who is the Director of Public Prosecutions. In addition, the former Liberal staffer also complained about the plan to delay the release of the report of Mr Sofronoff. He took to his Instagram to complain.

Mr. Lehrmann wrote, “Absolute disgrace! I remember someone saying that sunlight is the best disinfectant… The Drumgold protection racket continues. The chief minister should hang his head in shame,” Last year, the Director of Public Prosecutions dropped the single charge of sexual assault but the ACT government established the Sofronoff inquiry in the wake of the abandoned prosecution of Bruce Lehrmann. Barrister Mark Tedeschi SC told the inquiry it was reasonable for the DPP to prosecute and the police to charge. In the inquiry established by ACT, Walter Sofronoff reminded lawyers to present he was not holding an inquiry into Mr. Lehrmann’s innocence or guilt.
