On Sunday 9th July several districts of Himachal Pradesh faced deadly circumstances due to heavy rains. Terrifying videos of mudslides and flash floods took the internet by storm as locals and tourists shared terrifying moments they witnessed due to the weather in the mountainous state.

Among a hundred videos that ended up online, one video captured how a car narrowly escaped a landslide live. The video came from Solan village in Kullu district. Although, thankfully, no casualties were reported at the scene after the landslide, the terrifying video was enough to make the audience’s blood run cold.

In the video, a bystander catches the scene from across the road as cars pass on a dangerous road in Kullu. Several cars pass before some dirt particles and debris begin to fall from the hill. However, a car miraculously escapes when a huge rock falls from the hill.

The car sped past the scene as the massive boulder took its place in the middle of the road. Meanwhile, the locals who witnessed the gruesome scene not only recorded the moment but also tried to warn passing cars by making noise and attracting the attention of drivers.

In the past three days, there have been very heavy rains in several areas of North India, causing a lot of damage. According to reports, at least 22 people have been killed by landslides and floods. In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, towns and cities have suffered badly, with buildings and roads submerged in deep water. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that more heavy rain is expected in the coming days in the northern states.

These images of heavy rain ruining the daily lives of people like Manali, Kullu, Kinnaur and Chamba have filled social media. Numerous houses, bridges and other infrastructure in the mountainous state have been damaged due to heavy rains in the region.

Not only the hilly regions but also the plains of Delhi-NCR are also facing problems due to continuous rainfall in the region. On July 11, an orange alert sounded in the state when the Yamuna River crossed the danger mark.
