A carjacking suspect in Wisconsin found himself in a horrible situation last week when a quick-thinking passerby knocked over a porta-potty where he was hiding, trapping him inside until police arrived.
The suspect was one of four people wanted in connection with a stolen vehicle and hit-and-run crash on Interstate 43 last Wednesday, according to local reports.
The wild police chase began when an officer spotted a Dodge Durango that had been reported stolen in Plymouth Minnesota, on Port Washington Road around 11:40 a.m., Glendale police said, according to local station TMJ4.
When the officer approached the van, the driver accelerated, police said.
A different officer, further down the road, placed tire deflation devices on the roadway that the Durango swerved into the opposite lane to avoid, hitting a car head-on, according to footage posted by the local NBC affiliate station.
The Durango bounced off the other car, which hit a third vehicle, and sped across a grassy median before hitting a traffic barrier on the shoulder of I-43, the clip shows.
The doors of the stolen SUV fly open and four people cross several lanes of traffic and scatter in different directions, according to the video.

One of the suspects was intercepted by a police officer at the scene while two others ran west toward the nearby Lincoln Park golf course, the station reported.
One of the two on the golf course ran into the woods next to his lawn, while the other headed straight for a bright orange porta-potty, according to the outlet.
Two golfers watched the scene unfold, followed closely by police patrols.
Ilissa Boland and Adam Westermayer told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel they saw the suspect enter the scene and a police vehicle fly by.
“We looked at each other like, ‘Are you serious? Is that where he’s going to hide?’” Boland, a real estate agent in the area, told the newspaper.

Westermayer approached the porta-john but found the door closed.
He then decided to tip it over so the door was against the ground, effectively trapping the suspect inside.
“Good luck, man,” he said after pushing the toilet and walking away, the newspaper reported.
He told TMJ4 he hoped to give police some time with the move.
“When we realized they were being chased and the child was in the port-a-potty, we tried to tell the police officer,” he told the station.

Westermayer added that he felt it was his duty to assist officers in the chase.

“There was no thought. I just knew what was right and I did it,” she said.
Boland watched the wild trap and arrest unfold and recorded it on his phone.
“Adam tipped it over and [we] “I heard the port-a-potty sloshing,” he told the station.
“It was literally a horrible situation.”
Body camera footage later released by Glendale police and obtained by the Journal Sentinel shows what happened next.
The suspect shouts “Let me out” as three police officers surround the porta-john with their guns drawn, the footage shows.
One of the officers turns the porta-potty over as the liquid sloshes and the suspect screams.
“Crawl away, buddy,” an officer orders him.
“Do not do anything stupid”.
“Bro, I got shit on me, bro,” he says as he crawls out and throws his hands in the air.
Police yell at the suspect to get on the ground and he complies before the clip ends.
He was detained along with his accomplice, who was captured on the side of the interstate.
The other two suspects remain at large, according to the Journal Sentinel.
The drivers of the two vehicles involved in the crash with the stolen Durango were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, TMJ4 reported.
