Chicago Area Zoo Continues Valentine’s Day Theme of Naming Cockroaches After Exes and Loved Ones

Even scorned lovers also celebrate Valentine’s Day, in the most unorthodox way.

A Chicago-area zoo will allow those willing to pay to name a cockroach after that not-so-special person in their lives.

For a $15 donation to Brookfield Zoo, those who wish can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after an ex or their least favorite person.

Donors will receive a name certificate that can be filled out and shared or hung on a wall to remember the roach.

First names will be posted on the Hamill Family Play Zoo cockroach name board if submitted by 5pm on February 5.

Only names will be published, but customers have the opportunity to write personalized notes on the certificate that arrives with the donation receipt.

The meeting will be announced on February 14.

Potential donors will need to fill out a form and note whether their roach is an ex or a former friend.

The Bronx Zoo also offers the same promotion.
